Voice over internet protocol or VoIP as it is called is a technology that is used to make telephone calls through the Internet. It is a very cost-effective means of communication that has stormed the market and grabbed a fair share of the pie for itself. There is some specific VoIP software that is available free of cost for the most part, which can be used to make phone calls without going through a regular exchange that is owned by  the telecom companies. With the use of an analogue telephone adaptor you can connect a regular telephone device and use it to make calls to any part of the world.  This adaptor is nothing but a device to convert analog signals to the digital format.

There are special phones that are called IP phones or internet protocol phones. These specialized phones are not very different from the common home phone, with a handset and a dialing pad with buttons. However, instead of a regular phone connector, these special phones have an Ethernet connector. Using this type of connector, the phone is connected to a router in order to use the Internet to make calls.Samsung’s Ubigate™ plays an important role in enhancing voice over internet protocol telephony.  It has excellent routing capabilities and switching capacity, comprehensive security, and provides effective service. The Ubigate™ empowers union of data and voice using a variety of features that help support analog and internet protocol phones. It is a great boon for small and medium business that need to use the phone extensively and helps them keep the cost within manageable limits. It provides cost saving wide area network access and it can support the telephone and extra bandwidth requirements. The installation procedure is very basic and simple and the quality of service offered and the maintenance of the network that has been simplified, and the need to source hardware from different sources has been done away with. The comprehensive firewall is enhanced and the application-level gateway and the disk operating system for internet protocol security and virtual private network are great sentinels. With the ability to separate data and voice traffic, Ubigate™ enhances the protection that is available for voice traffic.  It also reduces any downtime that can occur in the network and is well guarded against any specific circuit failures.

It’s the competitive price for enterprise networking that is the perfect bonanza for startups and fledgling businesses. The great thing with Internet Protocol telephones is that the distance makes no difference in the cost, unlike the regular phone connections. Hence a local call and an overseas call several thousand miles away will cost almost the same. This is especially good for businesses that have to constantly keep in touch with their clients located in far flung destinations. The only problem if you could call it that could arise from fluctuations in the Internet connection you have. As long as the Internet connection is fast and stable enough, you get crystal clear reception and even calls to overseas destinations sound like they are being made to some number within the neighborhood. However, should the speed of the Internet connection go down or if there is any dip or disruption in the service the call quality becomes poor.
