VoIP Integration: Trend in Business Telephone Systems

The traditional analog system is a thing of the past century. It is already outdated as far as new technologies and innovations for businesses are concerned. Gone are the days when people use snail mail, telegrams and analog telephones as modes of communication.  With the introduction of the Internet, there has been a rapid change in the way people communicate. One particular example is the introduction of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) to business telephone systems.

People can now make and receive telephone calls via the Internet. Applying this technology is like hitting two birds with one stone. For one, it makes you more available to clients and second, it makes your business more streamlined.

Boom in VoIP market

Statistics show that the market for VoIP grows incredibly fast yearly. There is a very obvious increase in traffic, subscribers and revenues. Such increase has become possible because the US Federal Communication Commission (FCC) decided not to limit Internet voice traffic. This gives everyone the chance to venture into the business. The FCC also does not control the low prices of the services. As a result, VoIP companies are impelled to deliver quality services at lower prices.

In 2008, experts claimed that VoIP market grew by 33% globally. This amounted to more than $30 billion. It is worth noting that VoIP’s benefits are not exclusive to business telephone systems.  In the US, more and more households are replacing their landlines with VoIP. This is shown by a decrease in shares of the traditional telephone market. Specifically, the shares went from 90% in 2007 to 74% in 2008. This year, it is predicted that more than 30 million US households will use VoIP as their primary mode of communication.

Why enhance your business telephone with VoIP?

The popularity of VoIP among households is another reason for companies to upgrade their business telephone. However, you need to examine the service providers first before you step up to a whole new level. For one, they all offer common and differentiated services. Asterisk’s open-source platform for business VoIP may be the most cost-efficient, but if you don’t have the necessary programming skills needed to run it, you might be on a dead end. A low-priced phone system from RingCentral, however, can offer your particular needs without requiring certain technical expertise; this alone may not be addressed by some other VoIP service.

The FCC states that different types of VoIP services allow you to make calls in different ways. Depending on the type, you can make calls using computer or special VoIP phone. You can also make VoIP calls using the traditional telephone. Apparently, upgrading your business telephone is really practical. You won’t have to discard your old machines. You can actually use them with VoIP but with more efficiency and less cost this time.

Competition will remain stiff in whichever industry you go into. So, every second counts for your business. Upgrading your business telephone with VoIP makes important calls successful. You won’t have to miss any call from business partners or clients. Communication becomes even more fluid as VoIP calls can be also done wirelessly. Wireless areas located in cafes, parks and airports will not be a hindrance anymore.

To keep up with the market challenges, upgrade in your business telephone system is necessary.

A well written article. It seems almost alien that some companies have still not adopted a Voip or hosted telephone system, but the companies which insist on not switching are certainly only hurting the progress of their business.

A very interesting and well framed article. It is very vital that every enterprise, even small businesses, to look at the VoIP phone system as one of the best and feasible business communication options that helps reduce the complexity and enhance ROI aspect by improving employee integration and productivity at lesser costs.
